Jason Perna began his study of Aikido in 1998 at Agatsu Dojo in New Jersey. There, under the direction of Richard and Kathy Crane Sensei, he received a solid foundation in Iwama Ryu Aikido. This included a comprehensive study of Kihon Waza as well as the weapons system of the Late Morihiro Saito Sensei. He Came to Aikido of Center City in 2003 where he has continued to develop his Aikido practice under the direction of Waite Shihan. Waite Sensei has been instrumental in helping Jason to deepen his understanding of the art. Here he has learned the dynamic style of Waite Sensei's ukemi as well as gaining better insight into his methods of Ki no Nagare and weapons training. He currently holds the rank of Ni-Dan(second-degree black belt) with the USAF and Hombu Dojo. In 2008 Jason formally applied and was accepted by Waite Sensei to the position of Senior/Head Deshi at Aikido of Center City.
